Watch a video of John Bell and his family

Dear John,

The efforts you are making to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease are of vital importance. I pay tribute not just to the immense courage you have displayed, but to the courage displayed by the many hundreds of people in the UK who find their lives blighted by this terrible and debilitating illness. Campaigns such as yours will help ensure that the plight of sufferers of MND will never slip off the political agenda, and help fund important research into the true nature of the disease. Best wishes,

from Nick Gibb, MP for Bognor Regis & Littlehampton
(All Party Parliamentary Group on MND)

Dear John,

My mum Angela just died of MND last Sunday. I watched her deteriorate from a fun and optimistic person to a shadow of her former self. I am angry. Angry that in the year 2006 there is still no cure for MND/ALS while money is wasted on so many useless and less important things. I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to you and your family for going public with the illness and for raising awareness of this horrible, debilitating and undignified disease. Your story is inspirational. I wish you and your family the strength to keep up the fight and the hope that one day soon a cure will be found.
